Who takes care of us?
4 min read, approximately

“My lovingkindness, and my fortress, My high tower, and my deliverer; My shield, and he in whom I take refuge; Who subdueth my people under me.” (Psalms 144:2)
It is striking that while we often wonder,
“…What is man, that you remember him, and the son of man, that you visit him?” (Psalms 8:4)
The Lord carried out a magnificent plan to save us:
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth on him should not perish, but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)
Yes! God loves his creation!
You and I belong to Christ, but sadly many will not like this and will want to tempt us to abandon the Way and go astray (1 Thessalonians 3:5), looking for ways to harm us… However,
“… there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.” (Romans 8:1)
Remember…
Today the Lord wants to remind us that most of us came to his feet because our lives reached a point where we could no longer go on; they had become empty and meaningless… The Lord wants to refresh our memory of those circumstances we went through and emerged from unharmed. Let us remember that it was always the Lord: he was always there with us as our strong refuge, protection, shield, and deliverer (Psalms 46:1).
We may find ourselves afraid because everything has turned against us or because we foresee circumstances in which we surely can do nothing. At these moments we must lift our voices and remember that the Lord will always be:
“You are my hiding place and my shield; I have hoped in your word.” (Psalms 119:114), and that only “You are my refuge; you will keep me from distress; you will surround me with songs of deliverance.” (Psalms 32:7)
Our almighty God is the one who has said that
“No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of Jehovah, and their righteousness which is of me, saith Jehovah.” (Isaiah 54:17)
“So that with good courage we say, The Lord is my helper; I will not fear: What shall man do unto me?” (Hebrews 13:6)
“What, then, shall we say to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31)
He is great and will not abandon us!
Will the Lord, who is great, strong, our deliverer, our high refuge, mighty, and our faithful friend, abandon us? Will he leave us helpless?

“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of Jehovah, He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in whom I trust. For he will deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, And from the deadly pestilence. He will cover thee with his pinions, And under his wings shalt thou take refuge: His truth is a shield and a buckler. Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night, Nor for the arrow that flieth by day; For the pestilence that walketh in darkness, Nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday. A thousand shall fall at thy side, And ten thousand at thy right hand; [But] it shall not come nigh thee. Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold, And see the reward of the wicked. For thou, O Jehovah, art my refuge! Thou hast made the Most High thy habitation; There shall no evil befall thee, Neither shall any plague come nigh thy tent. For he will give his angels charge over thee, To keep thee in all thy ways.” (Psalms 91:1-11)
