“For I desired mercy, not sacrifice, and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.” (Hosea 6:6)

Loyalty is a virtue we develop. It means honoring a commitment even in changing or adverse circumstances. A loyal person is therefore faithful to God, to their leader, to their family, to their companions, and to those in their care.

In the Lord’s Word, we find excellent instructions on being loyal, just as God is:

\1. A Loyal Person Is Always Found Faithful

“Let people regard us as servants of Christ and stewards of God’s mysteries. Now, it is required of stewards that each one be found faithful.” (1 Corinthians 4:1-2)

\2. Their Works Are Upright

“For the word of Jehovah is right; And all his work is [done] in faithfulness.” (Psalms 33:4)

\3. Their Words Are Firm

“Lord, you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name, for you have done wonderful things. Your ancient purposes are true and steadfast.” (Isaiah 25:1)

\4. Their Actions Are Steadfast

“Your testimonies are very firm; holiness adorns your house, O Lord, forever and ever.” (Psalms 93:5)

\5. They Keep Confidences

“Whoever lacks understanding despises their neighbor, but a prudent person keeps silent. A gossip reveals secrets, but one with a faithful spirit keeps everything in confidence.” (Proverbs 11:13)

\6. They Always Show Mercy

“Showing mercy brings people contentment, but a poor person is better than a liar.” (Proverbs 19:22)

\7. Their Words Always Match Their Actions

“My little children, let us not love in word or speech alone, but in deed and in truth.” (1 John 3:18)

Could we say today that we are loyal? Faithful?
What do we need to strengthen?

Another Point About Loyalty?

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8)
