Are You, a Relative, or Someone You Know Ill?

Luke 5:12-15 (Illness)
“While he was in one of the towns, a man covered with leprosy came to him. When he saw Jesus, he fell with his face to the ground and pleaded with him: Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean. Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him, saying: I am willing; be clean. Immediately the leprosy left him. He ordered him to tell no one, but said: Go, show yourself to the priest and make the offering for your cleansing that Moses commanded, as a testimony to them. Yet the news about him spread more and more, and large crowds gathered to hear him and to be healed of their illnesses.”
We have all been through times of illness, from a ‘simple case of the flu’ or feeling generally unwell to illnesses for which doctors have said: ‘You must take these pills for the rest of your life… otherwise you will die.’ In other situations, many of us have even grown used to being ill, not to mention what the people around us say (Job 2:9).
Sometimes we hide behind a smile, trying to conceal the pain, distress, and suffering we carry deep inside because a relative is ill, or because we ourselves are.
If we are going through this, please let us remember that:
\1. Jesus Heals the Sick and Those Possessed by Demons
“And when Jesus was come into Peter’s house, he saw his wife’s mother lying sick of a fever. And he touched her hand, and the fever left her; and she arose, and ministered unto him. And when even was come, they brought unto him many possessed with demons: and he cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all that were sick: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through Isaiah the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our diseases.” (Matthew 8:14-17)
\2. Jesus Heals Illnesses Involving Emotional Instability
“And the report of him went forth into all Syria: and they brought unto him all that were sick, holden with divers diseases and torments, possessed with demons, and epileptic, and palsied; and he healed them.” (Matthew 4:24)
\3. When We Repent, He Also Heals Illnesses That Come from Sin
“Bless Jehovah, O my soul, And forget not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; Who healeth all thy diseases;” (Psalms 103:2-3)
“I said, O Jehovah, have mercy upon me: Heal my soul; for I have sinned against thee.” (Psalms 41:4)
\4. He Can Use You to Pray for a Sick Person to Be Healed
“And Abraham prayed unto God: and God healed Abimelech, and his wife, and his maid-servants; and they bare children. For Jehovah had fast closed up all the wombs of the house of Abimelech, because of Sarah, Abraham’s wife.” (Genesis 20:17-18)
\5. We Must Understand What God Wants for You and Me
“Behold, I will bring it health and cure, and I will cure them; and I will reveal unto them abundance of peace and truth.” (Jeremiah 33:6)
God’s Word is very clear. You who are ill, believe in the Lord and receive healing today, for:
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8)
And if someone you know is ill, BELIEVE as well! Today you can cry out for their healing, and I know they will be healed, because:
“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater [works] than these shall he do; because I go unto the Father.” (John 14:12)
Oh, and one more thing:
“And these signs shall accompany them that believe: in my name shall they cast out demons; they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents, and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall in no wise hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.” (Mark 16:17-18)
Remember! God’s Word is meant to be put into practice:
“To him therefore that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.” (James 4:17)
