Everlasting Love?

“Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth over the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in lovingkindness. He will again have compassion upon us; he will tread our iniquities under foot; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.” (Micah 7:18-19)

Many of us attend gatherings at work, with family, in the neighborhood, or in other settings, and a subject always comes up that is new or simply unfamiliar to us. We could offer an opinion about this new topic, but deep down we would know that what we say needs a knowledge of its essence, the main foundation of what is being discussed. It would be foolish to boast that we know the subject when we do not, wouldn’t it? In the same way, how could we know God if we limit ourselves to listening to and commenting on what others say about him? Just as with new or unfamiliar subjects at gatherings, would it not be better to read God’s Word first, to find out who God is?

Did You Know?

God Created Us

“And God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.” (Genesis 1:27)

Before We Were Born, He Already Knew Us and Gave Us Purpose

“Thine eyes did see mine unformed substance; And in thy book they were all written, [Even] the days that were ordained [for me], When as yet there was none of them.” (Psalms 139:16)

“Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee, and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee; I have appointed thee a prophet unto the nations.” (Jeremiah 1:5)

He Knows Everything about Us

“Thou searchest out my path and my lying down, And art acquainted with all my ways. For there is not a word in my tongue, But, lo, O Jehovah, thou knowest it altogether.” (Psalms 139:3-4)

But Sadly, We All Turned Our Backs on Him

“There is none that understandeth, There is none that seeketh after God; They have all turned aside, they are together become unprofitable; There is none that doeth good, no, not so much as one:” (Romans 3:11-12)

And After Abounding in Our Sins, None of Us Had Hope

“For the wages of sin is death; but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23)

Despite This, the Lord Has Always Been Willing to Forgive and Renew Us because of His Wonderful Mercy

“A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you; and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep mine ordinances, and do them.” (Ezekiel 36:26-27)

To Demonstrate This, He Created a Plan of Salvation That Shows Us His Immense Love

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth on him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God sent not the Son into the world to judge the world; but that the world should be saved through him.” (John 3:16-17)

He Came Just When We Were So Lost, to Give Us Direction Again

“Jesus said to him: I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6)

We Were All Lost in Our Sins, Yet He Came to Rescue Us

“thou whom I have taken hold of from the ends of the earth, and called from the corners thereof, and said unto thee, Thou art my servant, I have chosen thee and not cast thee away; fear thou not, for I am with thee; be not dismayed, for I am thy God; I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.” (Isaiah 41:9-10)

He Has Done All of This…

1.

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith Jehovah, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope in your latter end.” (Jeremiah 29:11)

2.

Because “The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise, as some understand slowness. Rather, he is patient with us, not wanting anyone to perish but everyone to come to repentance.” (2 Peter 3:9)

And 3.

“Jehovah appeared of old unto me, [saying], Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.” (Jeremiah 31:3)

Jesus says:

“I have come so that they may have life and have it abundantly. I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd gives his life for the sheep.” (John 10:10b-11)

A Day Is Coming When God

“and he shall wipe away every tear from their eyes; and death shall be no more; neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain, any more: the first things are passed away.” (Revelation 21:4)
