What is the Shepherd's voice like?
2 min read, approximately

“For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein and overcome, the last state is become worse with them than the first. For it were better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after knowing it, to turn back from the holy commandment delivered unto them. It has happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog turning to his own vomit again, and the sow that had washed to wallowing in the mire.” (2 Peter 2:20-22)
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me…
What does someone who has enjoyed the Lord’s feast gain by returning to foolishness, clothing themselves again in disgrace and disapproval?
“Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believe not: the works that I do in my Father’s name, these bear witness of me. But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep. My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: and I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, and no one shall snatch them out of my hand.” (John 10:25-28)
When the Shepherd speaks, do you and I recognize his voice? Do we still delight in spending time with the Lord, or was it simply like yeast, or has it become just another requirement? Would it have been better for us never to have known the Lord, or is there a fire in our hearts longing for more and more of him each day? If so… What do we really long for from the Lord?
May God continue to bless you
