How is our… fruit?!

“The LORD your God will make you abound in every work of your hands, in the fruit of your womb, the offspring of your livestock, and the produce of your land, for your good. For the LORD will again rejoice over you for good, as he rejoiced over your fathers.” (Deuteronomy 30:9)

Deuteronomy 30:9 is very clear about fruit in 4 areas of our lives:

  • Creativity and work: ‘The LORD your God will make you abound in every work of your hands.’
  • Family: ‘The LORD your God will make you abound’ ‘in the fruit of your womb’… Our descendants will be blessed.
  • Finances: ‘The LORD your God will make you abound’ ‘in the fruit of your womb, the offspring of your livestock, and the produce of your land, for your good.’
  • Spiritual life: ‘For the LORD will again rejoice over you for good.’

All this is wonderful! But how can we know how our fruit is doing in these areas?
God’s Word immediately gives us steps 1, 2, and 3 to examine the state of our fruit:

\1. How are we doing in obedience?

“When you obey the voice of the LORD your God, keeping his commandments and statutes written in this book of the law, when you turn to the LORD your God with all your heart and all your soul.” (Deuteronomy 30:10)

\2. How are we doing in holiness?

“For this commandment I give you today is not too difficult for you, nor is it far away. It is not in heaven, so that you should say: Who will go up to heaven for us, bring it to us, and let us hear it so we may obey it? Nor is it across the sea, so that you should say: Who will cross the sea for us, bring it to us, and let us hear it so we may obey it?” (Deuteronomy 30:11-13)

\3. How are we doing in our daily meditation on God’s Word?

“For the word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, so that you may obey it.” (Deuteronomy 30:14)

Now that we have answered these questions, we decide what to do, for the Lord said:

“I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you today that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Choose life, then, so that you and your descendants may live.” (Deuteronomy 30:19)

How is our fruit? What will we do today?

May God continue to bless you
and may you keep enjoying an excellent day in Christ Jesus!

Lord… Is it still possible after 4 days dead?

The raising of Lazarus and Jairus's daughter invites us to trust God, bring him our difficulties, and hold on to hope when everything seems lost.
