Children? What Should I Do With Them?

“Now this is the commandment, the statutes, and the ordinances, which Jehovah your God commanded to teach you, that ye might do them in the land whither ye go over to possess it; that thou mightest fear Jehovah thy God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command thee, thou, and thy son, and thy son’s son, all the days of thy life; and that thy days may be prolonged.” (Deuteronomy 6:1-2 · ASV)

Therefore, continually:

…these words that I command you today shall be on your heart; you shall repeat them to your children and speak of them when you are at home, when you walk along the road, when you lie down, and when you rise.” (Deuteronomy 6:6-7)

God has said that blessed is:

‘the fruit of your womb…’ (Deuteronomy 28:4)

And that:

“They will not labor in vain or bear children for calamity, for they are the offspring of those blessed by the Lord, and their descendants with them.” (Isaiah 65:23)

Furthermore:

“Behold, children are an inheritance from the Lord; the fruit of the womb is precious.” (Psalms 127:3)

God has already declared this over your descendants… so you should:

“Train a child in the way he should go; even when he is old, he will not depart from it.” (Proverbs 22:6)

Because:

“If anyone does not care for his own, especially those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.” (1 Timothy 5:8)

Keep in mind that:

“Whoever withholds punishment hates his son, but whoever loves him is diligent to discipline him.” (Proverbs 13:24)

And if necessary:

“Do not withhold correction from a child, [for] if you strike him with a rod, he will not die. You will strike him with a rod and deliver his soul from hell.” (Proverbs 23:13-14)

But be careful:

“As for you, parents, bring up your children with tact, so that they do not become discouraged.” (Colossians 3:21 BLPH)

Remember that the task of teaching your children was entrusted to you, not to a school, church, grandparents, or a stranger.

“But be doers of the word, not merely hearers who deceive themselves.” (James 1:22)

Do not wait for God to say:

Woe to the children who turn away, says the LORD, making plans that are not mine, seeking a covering that is not by my Spirit, adding sin to sin!” (Isaiah 30:1 JBS)
