“This book of the law (Bible) shall never depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may observe and do everything written in it. Then you will make your way prosperous, and all will go well for you.” (Joshua 1:8)

Apathy appears when we begin to lack the energy, interest, care, or willingness to do something. Here we mean the lack of desire to meditate on God’s Word. Has the delight been lost? Have we lost our direction and motivation to read the Bible? Overcoming apathy requires a decision—a decision only you and I can make. Yet we clearly need a little encouragement from time to time, so what better than God’s Word to give us that encouragement?

Let Us See:

\1. The Bible Teaches Us to Know God’s Will: (Matthew 6:9-15)… Your will be done? What will?

“And be not fashioned according to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” (Romans 12:2)

The only will that is good, pleasing, and perfect!

\2. The Bible Teaches Us Not to Fear, Because God Is With Us at Every Moment and Will Not Abandon Us:

“These things have I spoken unto you, that in me ye may have peace. In the world ye have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)

Therefore:

“fear thou not, for I am with thee; be not dismayed, for I am thy God; I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.” (Isaiah 41:10)

\3. The Bible Teaches Us That Everything Written in It for Us Has Been Fulfilled, Is Being Fulfilled, and Will Continue to Be Fulfilled:

“For as the rain cometh down and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, and giveth seed to the sower and bread to the eater; so shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.” (Isaiah 55:10-11)

\4. The Bible Is Our Food:

“But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” (Matthew 4:4)

\5. The Bible Teaches Us to Be Wise:

“My son, if thou wilt receive my words, And lay up my commandments with thee; So as to incline thine ear unto wisdom, And apply thy heart to understanding; Yea, if thou cry after discernment, And lift up thy voice for understanding; If thou seek her as silver, And search for her as for hid treasures: Then shalt thou understand the fear of Jehovah, And find the knowledge of God. For Jehovah giveth wisdom; Out of his mouth [cometh] knowledge and understanding: He layeth up sound wisdom for the upright; [He is] a shield to them that walk in integrity; That he may guard the paths of justice, And preserve the way of his saints. Then shalt thou understand righteousness and justice, And equity, [yea], every good path.” (Proverbs 2:1-9)

\6. The Bible Teaches Us That We Have Authority and Power in Jesus’ Name:

“And these signs shall accompany them that believe: in my name shall they cast out demons; they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents, and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall in no wise hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.” (Mark 16:17-18)

\7. The Bible Teaches Us That There Are Not 1 or 2, but 3!:

“This is Jesus Christ, who came through water and blood—not through water alone, but through water and blood. And the Spirit bears witness, because the Spirit is the truth. For three bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one. And three bear witness on earth: the Spirit, the water, and the blood; and these three agree.” (1 John 5:6-8)

Has this topic encouraged us? Do we want to know more? Then let us put aside carelessness, negligence, laziness, and apathy, and set ourselves to meditating on God’s Word. We would be surprised by how many more things we could find in it! What do you say?
