Forgetting our identity?

“Little children, you belong to God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.” (1 John 4:4)

One of the things the devil attacks again and again to gain an advantage is our identity (Matthew 4:3-7). Sadly, failing to read and study the Word, to fellowship with the Lord, and to pray distorts our understanding of whose children we are, who we are, and what we can achieve… In the end, when we lack understanding (Hosea 4:6), who would not be easy prey for the devil? But starting today, this will change! Let us search the Word and break down 1 John 4:4 to understand who we are: \1. We belong to God: We were created

“For in him all things were created, things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones, dominions, principalities, or powers; everything was created through him and for him.” (Colossians 1:16)

and we were also purchased:

“For you have been bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which belong to God.” (1 Corinthians 6:20)

\2. We belong to the royal family, and the Holy Spirit confirms it:

“But to all who received him, to those who believe in his name, he gave the right to become children of God; they are born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” (John 1:12-13)

Furthermore,

“The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God.” (Romans 8:16)

\3. We must understand that there is a spiritual battle:

“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” (Ephesians 6:12)

That is why:

“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not wage war according to the flesh; for the weapons of our warfare are not fleshly, but powerful in God for destroying strongholds, demolishing arguments and every proud thing that rises against the knowledge of God, and taking every thought captive in obedience to Christ” (2 Corinthians 10:3-5)

. \4. However, it must also be clear to us that even when there is war and there are battles… nothing will be able to separate us from God:

“Rather, in all these things we are more than conquerors through the one who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:37-39)

\5. So, if you can believe it, too bad for the enemy, but our nature is to overcome!

“For everyone born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world: our faith. Who overcomes the world but the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?” (1 John 5:4-5)

The enemy has been overcome; he is under our feet, he is defeated, and if he rises up, we will keep defeating him in the name of Christ Jesus, because everyone born of God overcomes the world. So, if you have forgotten, let me tell you that you and I are included! For we are a chosen lineage, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people acquired by God who proclaim the excellencies of the one who called us into his marvelous light! We are children of God!

May God continue to bless you
and may you continue to have an excellent day in Christ Jesus!
