Financial problems? It is time to say “Enough!”
6 min read, approximately

“And so it was, when Israel had sown, that the Midianites came up, and the Amalekites, and the children of the east; they came up against them; and they encamped against them, and destroyed the increase of the earth, till thou come unto Gaza, and left no sustenance in Israel, neither sheep, nor ox, nor ass. For they came up with their cattle and their tents; they came in as locusts for multitude; both they and their camels were without number: and they came into the land to destroy it. And Israel was brought very low because of Midian; and the children of Israel cried unto Jehovah.” (Judges 6:3-6)
Do we see our finances going from bad to worse? Does all the money coming in go toward obligations, leaving absolutely nothing? Does our situation keep getting worse?
Let us know that the same thing happened to Israel, and it is good to remember what they did to overcome that poverty:
\1. Financial problems? Let us cry out!
“And Israel was brought very low because of Midian; and the children of Israel cried unto Jehovah. And it came to pass, when the children of Israel cried unto Jehovah because of Midian,” (Judges 6:6-7)
The answer is not in a bank, a moneylender, or taking on more debt… The answer begins with seeking the supremely Wise One! (Jeremiah 33:3)
2. Financial problems? Let us remember who God is and what he has done
“that Jehovah sent a prophet unto the children of Israel: and he said unto them, Thus saith Jehovah, the God of Israel, I brought you up from Egypt, and brought you forth out of the house of bondage; and I delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the hand of all that oppressed you, and drove them out from before you, and gave you their land; and I said unto you, I am Jehovah your God; ye shall not fear the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell. But ye have not hearkened unto my voice.” (Judges 6:8-10)
Let us not forget any of his benefits!
3. Financial problems? It is time to uproot every doubt
“And Jehovah looked upon him, and said, Go in this thy might, and save Israel from the hand of Midian: have not I sent thee? And he said unto him, Oh, Lord, wherewith shall I save Israel? behold, my family is the poorest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father’s house. And Jehovah said unto him, Surely I will be with thee, and thou shalt smite the Midianites as one man.” (Judges 6:14-16)
Have we considered why the Almighty tells us we can do it? Is he lying, or does he truly know what we are made of, since he made us and equipped us with what we need to overcome?
\4. Financial problems? We must carry out the plan God’s way
“Now therefore proclaim in the ears of the people, saying, Whosoever is fearful and trembling, let him return and depart from mount Gilead. And there returned of the people twenty and two thousand; and there remained ten thousand. And Jehovah said unto Gideon, The people are yet too many; bring them down unto the water, and I will try them for thee there: and it shall be, that of whom I say unto thee, This shall go with thee, the same shall go with thee; and of whomsoever I say unto thee, This shall not go with thee, the same shall not go. So he brought down the people unto the water: and Jehovah said unto Gideon, Every one that lappeth of the water with his tongue, as a dog lappeth, him shalt thou set by himself; likewise every one that boweth down upon his knees to drink. And the number of them that lapped, putting their hand to their mouth, was three hundred men: but all the rest of the people bowed down upon their knees to drink water. And Jehovah said unto Gideon, By the three hundred men that lapped will I save you, and deliver the Midianites into thy hand; and let all the people go every man unto his place.” (Judges 7:3-7)
If our plan has brought us to where we are and has not worked… would it not be better to do things God’s way now? Victory lies in obedience and allowing ourselves to be guided!
\5. Financial problems? Let us not give up; let us persevere!
“And Gideon came to the Jordan, [and] passed over, he, and the three hundred men that were with him, faint, yet pursuing.” (Judges 8:4)
“And he hath said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for [my] power is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” (2 Corinthians 12:9)
Let us not give up!
\6. Financial problems? As what God has given us produces and bears fruit, let us pay our tithes and use the rest to eliminate our debts
“And they took the two princes of Midian, Oreb and Zeeb; and they slew Oreb at the rock of Oreb, and Zeeb they slew at the winepress of Zeeb, and pursued Midian: and they brought the heads of Oreb and Zeeb to Gideon beyond the Jordan.” (Judges 7:25)
Let us no longer be intimidated! Let us remember that
“But ye are an elect race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for [God’s] own possession, that ye may show forth the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:” (1 Peter 2:9)
What will we do starting today? Enough! My Father owns the gold and silver!
