Waiting confidently

“For surely there is a reward; And thy hope shall not be cut off.” (Proverbs 23:18)

Waiting is one of the things we like least. Our surroundings teach us that we should receive things immediately and that waiting is a waste of time… Yet the Word teaches us to cherish what we long for with anticipation. What a contrast! Many people or circumstances will remind us of that promise or dream we long for, intending to mock us. But you know what? They did the same to David. Again and again in the Psalms we find verses such as:

“As with a sword in my bones, mine adversaries reproach me, While they continually say unto me, Where is thy God? Why art thou cast down, O my soul? And why art thou disquieted within me? Hope thou in God; for I shall yet praise him, [Who is] the help of my countenance, and my God.” (Psalms 42:10-11)

. David understood that the God he called great and mighty would also save him, and that by waiting on God he would soon receive what he longed for. He knew that God neither lies nor fails! Perhaps we have waited so long that when someone speaks of the promise or reminds us of it, we react like Abraham or Sarah:

“Then Abraham fell upon his face, and laughed, and said in his heart, Shall a child be born unto him that is a hundred years old? and shall Sarah, that is ninety years old, bear?” (Genesis 17:17)

“Now Abraham and Sarah were old, [and] well stricken in age; it had ceased to be with Sarah after the manner of women. And Sarah laughed within herself, saying, After I am waxed old shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also?” (Genesis 18:11-12)

But today God lifts our heads, sets us on our feet, and reminds us that nothing, absolutely nothing, is impossible for him.

“Is anything too hard for Jehovah? At the set time I will return unto thee, when the season cometh round, and Sarah shall have a son.” (Genesis 18:14)

. So,

“Be strong, and let your heart take courage, All ye that hope in Jehovah.” (Psalms 31:24)

. Let us cast aside every thought that would make us stop trusting God… Are we tired?

“He giveth power to the faint; and to him that hath no might he increaseth strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: but they that wait for Jehovah shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; they shall walk, and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:29-31)

. Let us take courage from today onward! Like a pregnant woman who goes through so much during her pregnancy, she knows that God is great, wonderful, and good, so that after 9 months she can embrace the promise, because

“and stedfastness, approvedness; and approvedness, hope: and hope putteth not to shame; because the love of God hath been shed abroad in our hearts through the Holy Spirit which was given unto us.” (Romans 5:4-5)

. God knows what we are going through… Let us not give up!

“…if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it patiently.” (Romans 8:25)

“For surely there is a reward; And thy hope shall not be cut off.” (Proverbs 23:18)

Let us dust off our faith and begin to believe in the Lord… Did I not tell you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?

May God continue to bless you
and may you keep enjoying an excellent day in Christ Jesus!
