Foolish? Call (Insert Your Name) to Entertain Us!
4 min read, approximately

“And it came to pass, when their hearts were merry, that they said, Call for Samson, that he may make us sport. And they called for Samson out of the prison-house; and he made sport before them. And they set him between the pillars:” (Judges 16:25)
It is so sad that today many who have come to know Jesus Christ, repented, and accepted him as Lord and Savior intend to follow him while keeping their old habits…
What a spectacle for the devil! Many say they are with God and even know a great deal about the Bible, yet they follow their own will instead of enjoying the feast offered by the Lord’s Word. They have become so insensitive that they have not realized God no longer dwells in them (Judges 16:20; Numbers 14:42; 1 Samuel 16:14).
Foolish? Let Us Examine Ourselves
Let us examine ourselves in the light of the Word to see whether we are the devil’s puppets:
\1. Has It Been a While Since We Attended to the Spirit? Do We Instead Let Others Do This for Us?
The familiar phrase: ‘Pray for me’—while I do not pray myself
“For the mind of the flesh is death; but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace: because the mind of the flesh is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can it be: and they that are in the flesh cannot please God.” (Romans 8:6-8)
\2. Do We Say We Believe in the Lord, Yet Repeat the Same Mistakes Again and Again? Foolish?
“As a dog that returneth to his vomit, [So is] a fool that repeateth his folly. Seest thou a man wise in his own conceit? There is more hope of a fool than of him.” (Proverbs 26:11-12)
“For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein and overcome, the last state is become worse with them than the first.” (2 Peter 2:20)
\3. Have We Forgotten What It Means to Meditate on the Word, Opening It Only When We Go to Church?
“This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth, but thou shalt meditate thereon day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” (Joshua 1:8)
\4. When Someone Asks Us a Question and We Have an Opportunity to Give God Glory and Honor, Do We Prefer to Boast That We Achieved It Through Our Own Effort and Dedication?
“because that, knowing God, they glorified him not as God, neither gave thanks; but became vain in their reasonings, and their senseless heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,” (Romans 1:21-22)
“Pride [goeth] before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall.” (Proverbs 16:18)
\5. Have We Lately Stopped Having Time for God, While Still Finding Time to Criticize?
“But the Lord answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art anxious and troubled about many things: but one thing is needful: for Mary hath chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her.” (Luke 10:41-42)
If most of our answers were “Yes,” then we are on our way to hearing the devil say: “Foolish? Call (insert your name) to entertain us.”
“There is still hope for everyone among the living…” (Ecclesiastes 9:4a)
Please, it is time to return to the fold… Let us not wait until it is too late and there is no turning back!
May God continue to bless you
and may you continue to have an excellent day in Christ Jesus!
