Still thinking I can hide my sin from God?
5 min read, approximately

Job 34:21 (Sin)
“For his eyes are on the ways of humanity, and he sees every step.”
“For there is nothing hid, save that it should be manifested; neither was [anything] made secret, but that it should come to light.” (Mark 4:22)
Hiding and consequences
Many of us probably played hide-and-seek as children and laughed when the person looking for us passed close by without finding us. We would say: What a great hiding place! We will definitely hide there again next time!
Today, most of us continue playing hide-and-seek with our sin. We tend to think no one is watching and that God will never notice what we do… We forget that
“The eyes of Jehovah are in every place, Keeping watch upon the evil and the good.” (Proverbs 15:3)
“For there is nothing hid, save that it should be manifested; neither was [anything] made secret, but that it should come to light. If any man hath ears to hear, let him hear.” (Mark 4:22-23)
Traveling somewhere remote to do whatever we please because no one knows us? Maintaining an affair “discreetly” so that no one finds out? Stealing from our company? Telling lies? A double life? Double standards?
“Oh, how well we do it! No one will find out!”
How foolish and naive we are to think this way… Nothing, absolutely nothing, can be hidden from the Lord’s eyes!
“Am I a God at hand, saith Jehovah, and not a God afar off? Can any hide himself in secret places so that I shall not see him? saith Jehovah. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith Jehovah.” (Jeremiah 23:23-24)
Everything we do certainly has consequences!
“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth unto his own flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth unto the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap eternal life.” (Galatians 6:7-8)
We cannot deceive God by putting on a show, because
“I, Jehovah, search the mind, I try the heart, even to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his doings.” (Jeremiah 17:10)
We are naked before his eyes!
“And there is no creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and laid open before the eyes of him with whom we have to do.” (Hebrews 4:13)
Let us examine God’s Word
Now that we know God sees everything, let us look at what the Word says about the consequences of continuing to practice sin while believing no one sees us:
\1. We turn away from God and hasten toward our destruction
“For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: Evil shall not sojourn with thee. The arrogant shall not stand in thy sight: Thou hatest all workers of iniquity. Thou wilt destroy them that speak lies: Jehovah abhorreth the blood-thirsty and deceitful man.” (Psalms 5:4-6)
\2. We become enemies of God
“Ye adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whosoever therefore would be a friend of the world maketh himself an enemy of God. Or think ye that the scripture speaketh in vain? Doth the spirit which he made to dwell in us long unto envying? But he giveth more grace. Wherefore [the scripture] saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace to the humble.” (James 4:4-6)
\3. We lose God’s favor
“but your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, so that he will not hear.” (Isaiah 59:2)
Work, finances, business?
\4. We have no peace
“There is no peace, saith Jehovah, to the wicked.” (Isaiah 48:22)
“For I know my transgressions; And my sin is ever before me.” (Psalms 51:3)
\5. Things go from bad to worse
“The way of the wicked is as darkness: They know not at what they stumble.” (Proverbs 4:19)
\6. My family
“Whoso rewardeth evil for good, Evil shall not depart from his house.” (Proverbs 17:13)
“And Jehovah passed by before him, and proclaimed, Jehovah, Jehovah, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abundant in lovingkindness and truth; keeping lovingkindness for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin; and that will by no means clear [the guilty], visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children’s children, upon the third and upon the fourth generation.” (Exodus 34:6-7)
Conclusion
Is it worth facing these consequences?
“Repent ye therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out, that so there may come seasons of refreshing from the presence of the Lord;” (Acts 3:19)
Still thinking I can hide my sin from God? (Deuteronomy 28)
