Resignation?

“And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, who had spent all her living upon physicians, and could not be healed of any, came behind him, and touched the border of his garment: and immediately the issue of her blood stanched.” (Luke 8:43-44)

Day after day we get up with the desire to live, even making short-, medium-, and long-term plans… We always have so much to plan, do, and, of course, hope to accomplish. It seems as though we were programmed to undertake things and never to lose heart…

“Beloved, I pray that in all things thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.” (3 John 1:2)

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith Jehovah, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope in your latter end.” (Jeremiah 29:11)

But perhaps our lives have been shattered into a thousand pieces after going to a medical appointment for some discomfort and being diagnosed with a degenerative disease, an illness the doctors can do nothing about, or a terminal illness. We leave with whatever strength remains after this news and begin searching for someone who can help us, but things keep going from bad to worse…

“And a woman, who had an issue of blood twelve years, and had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse,” (Mark 5:25-26)

Then we are so full of hatred, anger, helplessness, doubt, desperation, and loneliness… that when someone speaks to us about Jesus… we only say, “Pray for me” or, in resignation, simply answer, “I don’t think this prayer thing is for me”…
For you who see no way out, for you who have resigned yourself, here is the following:

\1. Let us not allow desperation to blind us; while there is life, there is hope

In situations like this it is easy to think there is no option left but death. Yet God calls out loudly to us:

“Behold the birds of the heaven, that they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; and your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are not ye of much more value than they?” (Matthew 6:26)

“For to him that is joined with all the living there is hope; for a living dog is better than a dead lion.” (Ecclesiastes 9:4)

\2. Please, let us believe again

Amid illness, it is easy to place our lives in the hands of a specialist to heal our disease, but none of them has been able to heal us… We have felt disappointed and let down. Yet God will not fail us… Let us trust in God again

“A Song of Ascents. They that trust in Jehovah Are as mount Zion, which cannot be moved, but abideth for ever. As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, So Jehovah is round about his people From this time forth and for evermore.” (Psalms 125:1-2)

\3. Because everything is possible for the one who believes

“And Jesus said unto him, If thou canst! All things are possible to him that believeth.” (Mark 9:23)

“Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou believedst, thou shouldest see the glory of God?” (John 11:40)

Come on! It is possible! Let us remember that

“…without faith it is impossible to please God, because whoever comes to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.” (Hebrews 11:6)

\4. But why should we let go of resignation and place our trust in God?

“For no word from God shall be void of power.” (Luke 1:37)

“Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for all things are possible with God.” (Mark 10:27)

\5. God reminds us that this is not our end

“And we know that to them that love God all things work together for good, [even] to them that are called according to [his] purpose.” (Romans 8:28)

rather, let us remember that

“but they that wait for Jehovah shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; they shall walk, and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:31)

“having heard the things concerning Jesus, came in the crowd behind, and touched his garment. For she said, If I touch but his garments, I shall be made whole. And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of her plague.” (Mark 5:27-29)

We have already heard about Jesus… Will we dare to let go of resignation, trust him, and decide to touch his garment in prayer?
